Volume Control Dampers are the most common type of dampers used in the HVAC Ductwork. The dampers can be operated with an actuator or with a manual lockable handle.

Standard Control dampers

Standard Control Dampers offer the functionality of Air Volume Control, however the Pressure Drop across the damper must also be considered. Caryaire tested a damper of 600×600 mm with standard blades and also another damper of the same size with blades that offer a lower pressure drop.

Their tests and calculations reveal that if the Lower Pressure Drop damper offers a 10pa reduction in the Pressure drop @2000FPM, then the damper will save approximately Rs. 3200 per annum, in energy costs. A medium-sized HVAC project can have about 200 sqmtr of these dampers. By selecting the damper with a lower pressure drop, the building occupant can save approximately Rs. 18 lacs annually!

Energy Saving Dampers

Building occupants and designers must insist on Energy Saving Dampers when designing or specifying these essential HVAC Devices.

Caryaire offers a wide range of Volume Control Dampers with Low Leakage and Low-Pressure Drop. The Performance of our Dampers is tested and verified by TUV.

Start specifying these and help decarbonize the planet:

  • The damper shall have a Low Leakage, Conforming to minimum Leakage Class 1 & Class 1A as per AMCA 511-13 standard.
  • The damper shall have a low-pressure drop of less than 20 Pascal at an air velocity of 2000 fpm as per AMCA standard  500-D-18.
  • The damper performance must be tested and verified by a third party.
