Energy efficiency is playing an ever-increasing role, and not just in the private sector. Low consumption levels for pumps are also taken into account in professional applications. Wilo has responded to these requirements with its new development, the Wilo-Zetos K 8, a borehole pump that sets new standards in its class – not only in terms of energy efficiency but also in terms of product life cycle costs.

The Zetos is used in water management and industrial applications, as well as for technical building equipment. “With over 84% hydraulic efficiency, the Wilo-Zetos K 8 is the most efficient borehole pump currently on the market in this class,” states Wilo Product Manager, Philipp Maibom.

Relevant pump components

This achievement is made possible by optimized interaction between the functionally relevant pump components: “The Zetos K 8's extraordinarily high hydraulic efficiency can be combined with the efficiency of our permanent magnet motor for ‘best in class’ system efficiency,” explains Maibom. In addition to the wide range of parameterization options of the frequency converter included in the scope of delivery, the PM motor system can be individually adapted to the application at hand using various safety and control functions.

Last but not least, thanks to the use of high-quality materials combined with the toughness resulting from the precision casting process and its attractive price, the Zetos K 8 is pretty much suitable for universal use when it comes to pumping and transporting drinking water (according to the French water regulations advisory scheme ‘Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire’ (ACS)) or industrial water: “The construction of the hydraulics allows for easy installation and dismantling and, as is the case in all of our borehole pumps, the motor is especially quiet,” says Maibom.

Significant material savings

The Wilo-Zetos K 8 is equipped for continuous duty in accordance with borehole pump standard S1

Whether it's for municipal water supply, irrigation, pressure boosting, or industrial use – the Zetos K 8 finds its place in almost any surroundings. The product manager points out the benefits, too: “With the Zetos we have developed a borehole pump that combines many applications in one housing – so one pump for everything.”

The new development from the Dortmund-based manufacturer of pumps and pump systems also boasts a heavy-duty design. Even the standard version is manufactured through precision casting using 1.4408/AISI 316 stainless steel: “The precision casting method allows for significant material savings whilst achieving a high level of durability, even in challenging applications,” observes Maibom. With these product features, the Wilo-Zetos K 8 is equipped for continuous duty in accordance with borehole pump standard S1. A duplex-material version is also available for especially aggressive media.

Wastewater treatment plants

Highly efficient hydraulics, material savings, maximum toughness, and an optional permanent magnet motor join together to make the Wilo-Zetos K 8 a genuinely universally usable borehole pump which offers an extra vital advantage during operation: “Thanks to manageable acquisition costs and the enormous savings made possible by its efficiency, the amortization period is reduced to a minimum,” explains Maibom.

Wilo is a premium system partner in the field of water management. For water supply units, sewage pumping stations, or wastewater treatment plants, the Dortmund-based company offers innovative all-in-one solutions. From design work, via project supervision to installation and maintenance, everything comes from one source. Modern technology, systems, and services are interconnected to make day-to-day work as efficient and simple as possible.
