Danfoss Power Solutions has unveiled its new Danfoss Hansen® MQD and MQDB quick-disconnect couplings designed for single-phase water/glycol cooling systems. These couplings are targeted at electronics and data center liquid cooling sectors, addressing the demands for more efficient cooling solutions needed in high-density environments.
The MQD hand-mate and MQDB blind-mate models are notable for their compact design, making them suitable for high-density server racks. Significantly, these designs ensure full compatibility with MQD couplings offered by other manufacturers.
Danfoss MQD and MQDB Couplings
The newly launched couplings from Danfoss prioritize reliability while supporting high flow rates and ease of installation and maintenance. To guarantee product integrity, each component undergoes helium-leak testing.
Additionally, the use of color-coded connectors simplifies identification processes. These couplings are available in sizes 02, 03, and 04, which correspond to nominal flow diameters of 3.3, 4.9, and 6.4 millimeters, respectively, and support flow rates between 2 to 6.8 liters per minute.
Advancing Liquid Cooling for AI and High-Performance Computing
MQD and MQDB couplings are designed to offer robust performance, safety, and compatibility
Chinmay Kulkarni, Senior Product Manager at Danfoss Power Solutions, emphasized the role of Danfoss in establishing the MQD specification standards. Kulkarni stated, "Danfoss is proud to have shaped the MQD specification, setting benchmarks for reliability and performance in liquid cooling for AI and high-performance computing. As heat loads increase, liquid cooling is no longer optional — it’s essential."
He further noted that the MQD and MQDB couplings are designed to offer robust performance, safety, and compatibility, making them ideal for next-generation cooling systems utilized in compute trays.
Corrosion Resistance and Versatile Application
The couplings feature construction from 304 stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance, while EPDM seals provide durability. For versatile application possibilities, they come with ISO 11926-3 O-ring boss, BSPP, and hose tail terminal ends.
With an operating temperature range from −40°C to 150°C (−40°F to 302°F), these couplings suit a broad spectrum of environments and conditions.
