The French Competition Authority (Autorité de la concurrence – ADLC) has given the green light to Carrefour's acquisition of Cora and Match stores in France.
This decision aligns with the Group’s earlier commitments to the ADLC following Provera purchasing group and 27 Casino stores. Consequently, Carrefour has announced the signing of two agreements to sell nine stores in regions flagged by the ADLC.
Store Transactions and Future Plans
In line with the takeover, these stores are set to change hands, with seven being acquired by Cooperative U
Carrefour will be selling five hypermarkets, including three former Cora stores and one former Casino store, as well as two Carrefour Market supermarkets, one Carrefour City outlet, and one Match store. In line with the takeover, these stores are set to change hands, with seven being acquired by Cooperative U.
The locations include the Carrefour hypermarkets in Publier, Villers-Semeuse, and Hérouville; Carrefour Market supermarkets in Mercin-et-Vaux and Crouy; the Match supermarket in Nancy XXème Corps; and Carrefour City in Paris Poissonnière. Additionally, the Argenteuil and Pavillons-sous-Bois stores will be acquired by Intermarché.
Pending Approvals and Financial Implications
The completion of these transactions is contingent upon receiving final approval from the ADLC, alongside the fulfillment of typical prerequisites. Slated for completion by mid-2026, these deals translate to a valuation of approximately €70 million for Carrefour.
As outlined in the March 13 press release concerning the ADLC's decision, Carrefour reaffirms the financial terms related to the acquisition of Cora and Match brands in France, targeting synergies amounting to €130 million by 2027.
