LG Electronics USA Inc.’s Component Solutions division announces a new milestone for commercial refrigeration with the launch of its refrigeration scroll compressor at the 2018 International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) in Chicago this week.

The compressor, designed at the LG Component Solutions U.S. research and development center in Farmers Branch, Texas, in collaboration with engineers in South Korea, features improvements inspired by commercial service technicians and OEMs looking for advanced performance and reliability.

Commercial Refrigeration Applications

The compressor’s durability-improving innovations include a more sensitive vacuum prevention device and a stronger, stress-tested discharge reed valve that withstands the harsh operating conditions posed by refrigeration applications and limits excessive sound levels.

The LG unit is engineered for smooth, energy efficient operation

The LG unit is engineered for smooth, energy efficient operation in commercial refrigeration applications found in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants and cold-storage warehouses. “LG developed this next generation refrigeration scroll compressor for applications that require a solid and reliable refrigeration system,” said Minhee Jang, director of engineering and quality, LG Electronics USA Component Solutions.

Performance Of The Refrigeration System

This is a tightly calibrated, cost-effective compressor complete with new innovations that improve the performance of the refrigeration system, prevent damaging conditions and create value for contractors and business owners.”

Compatible with multiple refrigerants, including R-404A, R-507, R-407A, R-407C, R-448A and R-449A, the compressor has a capacity range of 1-6 HP. It also features an overload protector that prevents damage in abnormal conditions, copper stubs for easy brazing, and precision-calibrated bypass valves that facilitate a smoother, easier start-up by relieving pressure and protecting against over-compression.
