We’re delighted to be supporting the Government’s new £5m Heat Training Grant scheme. The initiative will enable 10,000 installers over the next two years to become low carbon heating experts. Installers can claim a £500 grant which will go towards the training needed to gain the skills and confidence to offer heat pumps to customers.
The grant could cover most of the cost of a Level 3 Heat Pump course, which takes an experienced gas or oil heating installer one week or less to complete. Installers can use the £500 grant at our new National Training & Technology Centre in East Yorkshire. Our state-of-the-art facility, at Bridgehead business park in Hessle, near Hull, focuses on low carbon heating and re-skilling installers for the acceleration of heat pumps and heating networks across the UK.

Heat pumps are highly efficient and reliable, and are key to cutting carbon emissions in both domestic premises and businesses. The Government expects heat pump deployment to reach 600,000 per year in 2028, a tenfold increase from 2021. To meet demand, the Heat Training Grant will provide heating engineers with grants of up to £500 to help cover the cost of training. The Heat Training Grant announcement forms part of a wider £14m commitment from government to accelerate the installation of heat pumps in homes and businesses.
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Lord Callanan, said: “This funding will give the rollout of heat pumps a huge boost by making them cheaper and easier to install, and importantly helping more households move away from costly fossil fuels. But we need a skilled workforce to deliver this, so we’re training thousands of people to be experts at installing heat pumps and heat networks, driving the country’s push towards net zero.”
