Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) released the following statement from Barton James, ACCA President and CEO, regarding the confirmation of the Honorable Eugene Scalia to serve as the Secretary of Labor:

ACCA is pleased that the Senate confirmed Mr. Scalia to serve as the new Secretary of Labor. The Department of Labor plays a pivotal role, helping address the workforce challenges that contractors are facing. ACCA is thankful for the Senate's swift action to confirm him and fill this vacancy.”

Promoting Workplace Safety

ACCA supported the nomination and confirmation of Secretary Scalia. On September 19, 2019, ACCA sent a letter of support to Chairman Lamar Alexander and Ranking Member Patty Murray of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. “Through his service to our country, Secretary Scalia has served with distinction. He has a history of supporting workers, promoting workplace safety, and holding individuals accountable for misconduct. He also comes from a family that has emphasized the importance of public service.”

ACCA looks forward to his stewardship of the Department of Labor. We are confident that he will continue to support the Trump Administration’s focus on encouraging more men and women to consider careers in the skilled trades and to promote a regulatory agenda that takes into consideration the impact on small businesses. ACCA stands ready to work with the Department of Labor to help advance these issues.”
